Construction is the process through which buildings, structures, infrastructures, and other physical objects get assembled or build. A range of activities is involved in this process such as designing, financing, planning, and executing the construction process. 

In this article, we are going to discuss which type of stones and materials are used in the construction of the seven wonders of the world, but before that, we will discuss the phases involved in the process of construction.

• Beginning of the actual construction.

Stones and materials used in the Construction of the seven wonders 

1. Great Wall of China: it is made up of various materials such as brick, tamped earth, and stone. The stone that was used for its construction is quarried locally and includes materials like granite, limestone, and sandstone. 

2. Petra, Jordan: it is an ancient city that is carved out of red sandstone cliffs. The stone used in its construction is primarily sandstone which was then quarried from the surrounding mountains. 

3. Christ the Redeemer, Brazil:  this statue is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone. This soapstone was used for the outer layers of the statue. 

4. Machu Picchu, Peru: it is an ancient city that is made up of stone. The stone that is used for its construction is granite which is quarried from the surrounding mountains. 

5. Chichen Itza, Mexico: it is an ancient Mayan city that is made up of limestone. The limestone used was quarried from the nearby sources and was used to create many temples and pyramids in the city. 

6. Colosseum, Italy: it is made up of travertine, which is a type of limestone. The travertine that was used for its construction was quarried from Tivoli which is a town that is located 20 miles away from Rome. 

7. Taj Mahal, India: it is made up of white marble, that was quarried from the nearby town of Makrana. This marble was transported to the site of construction by using a series of ramps and pulleys.
